Biology Experiment

Indeed, I’d say we all know that radiation is a real problem for the human biosystem, and this is why it is so carefully used in modern medicine and why the world is so worried about a terrorist threat or rogue nation state with nuclear weapons. Now then, it has been said and clearly stated by intelligence agencies around that world that Al Qaeda, and its followers are still attempting to get nuclear material. Material such as cesium, plutonium, or uranium whether it is enriched or not, to be used as a dirty bomb.

Believe it or not getting a hold of such material is not as difficult as it sounds, and we also know that even Al Qaeda has made this threat, and we should thus, consider the threat to be real and whereas, most of the discussion on this topic are along these lines, instead of prevention. We know it is inevitable that someday a terrorist organization or a proxy terrorist organization will get a hold of nuclear material and we will have a dirty bomb scenario on our hands in some major populated cities somewhere in the world.

Now for the biology issues;

Just because a dirty bomb has gone off, doesn’t mean the people that live there can automatically leave, some people will have no place to go especially in a very large city. You cannot just evacuate a giant city that is highly populated. Yes, it has been done before, but if we do that we will surely find more dirty bombs being used. In other words, we can’t let this level of terrorism stop us from going about our daily lives.

If a dirty bomb goes off in a capital city in some nation you can’t just move the entire government somewhere else right away. Yes, it will cost millions if not billions of dollars to scrub the area, wash it down, and then clean up, or move the government, people, businesses, etc. to another location. If people decide to stay there is a biological issue that we need to also address. Obviously pregnant mothers should not live in the city, or any woman of childbearing years or younger.

Also, young males should not live in such a city because it will also affect their reproductive organs. We know that in areas with radiation there are many anomalies in newborns of any species that remains. It happened in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, and it also happened in Chernobyl. This is something we need to think about depending on the level and spread of radiation. Along with; how much has gotten into the groundwater, and these are things we must be thinking about.

Will the radiation cause spontaneous evolution? There will be many birth defects, we know this to be a fact, and specifically there will be children born with unfortunate diseases. And yes there will be some evolution, but probably not much compared to the damage that is done to the human bio-system of those that remain, or the children born afterwards.

Luckily, it’s not as bad as it would seem from our past experiences. Therefore, we should be discussing these things along with ways to prevent a dirty bomb or radioactive material getting into the hands of terrorists. Please be thinking here.
